An Evening with Henry David Thoreau

An Evening with Henry David Thoreau In-Person

Step into the serenity of Walden Pond with us.

Join us for a special screening of a visually stunning film that captures the essence of Henry David Thoreau’s time at Walden Pond. Featuring gorgeous New England landscapes and a compelling reading of the second chapter of Walden—voiced as if by Thoreau himself—this immersive experience brings the transcendentalist’s reflections to life.

Lovingly compiled by Coventry’s own Dave Bennett, this is a peaceful, meditative journey you won’t want to miss.

We will view the video "Where I Lived and What I Lived For" which features a reading from Henry David Thoreau's book Walden, or Life in the Woods, and then engage in a short discussion afterwards. Light refreshments will be provided.

Free and open to the public.  Registration is not required, but if you would like to receive a reminder 2 days in advance, please register clicking the button below, calling Jessica at 401-822-9104 or emailing JCoppa@coventrylibrary.org.

A separate viewing of Walden, Chapter 18, will be shown on Thursday, November 6th from 6 - 7:45 p.m. at the Coventry Public Library. Join us for one or both!

"In our fast paced, never stop society, Walden has a message for today that is as relevant as any time since it was written. If you would like to take a look at and reevaluate the way you conduct your life, then this would be an interesting group for you to think about. Suitable for high school ages and up. If you have never read the book and/or would like to experience Walden in a fresh new way, this would be a great option."  - Dave Bennett, Coventry, R.I.
